Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Beijing on Friday, reaffirming the enduring friendship between China and Thailand. As the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations approaches, both nations expressed a commitment to deepen cooperation and strengthen bonds for the future.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to King Maha Vajiralongkorn and offered condolences for the recent earthquake in Thailand. He praised Princess Sirindhorn’s long-standing role in fostering China-Thailand relations, noting her 55 visits to China.
“Your visits have witnessed China’s development and shared the story of our modernization with the Thai people,” Wang said. He emphasized that China is eager to work with Thailand to make the next 50 years of their relationship even more fruitful, bringing greater benefits to both peoples.
Princess Sirindhorn expressed the Thai royal family’s deep appreciation for their friendship with China. She highlighted the positive impacts of their cooperation in agriculture, technology, and culture. “We are committed to advancing the in-depth development of Thailand-China friendship,” she stated.
The meeting signifies a mutual desire to enhance bilateral ties and collaborate on initiatives that will promote prosperity and understanding between the two nations.
