Shandong Taishan surged to the top of the Chinese Super League with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Shenzhen on Friday at their home ground in Jinan, east China’s Shandong Province. The win marks Shandong’s fourth of the season, bringing their total to 13 points after six games.
The hosts wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just four minutes into the match, Guilherme Madruga intercepted a pass from Jiang Zhipeng. He swiftly connected with Zeca, who set up Valeri Qazaishvili for a brilliant curling shot that soared into the top corner, giving Shandong an early lead.
Two minutes later, Liu Yang earned a free kick on the left edge of the box. Li Yuan stepped up and delivered a shot that bounced off the ground and into the net. Shenzhen’s goalkeeper Ji Jiabao was left rooted to the spot as Shandong doubled their advantage.
Shandong’s relentless attack continued. In the 22nd minute, a slick exchange between Huang Zhengyu, Madruga, and Cryzan bewildered Shenzhen’s defense. Zeca found himself inside the box and calmly slotted the ball home, making it 3-0.
The fourth goal came just eight minutes later. Qazaishvili dribbled towards the box, drawing multiple defenders before deftly backheeling the ball to Cryzan. The Brazilian forward unleashed a powerful volley, netting his third goal of the season and sealing a comprehensive victory for Shandong.
In another match on Friday, Changchun Yatai secured their first win of the season by defeating Meizhou Hakka 3-1 on the road in Meizhou, south China’s Guangdong Province. Ohi Omoijuanfo opened the scoring for Changchun in the fifth minute, assisted by Robert Beric. In the 38th minute, Beric provided another assist, this time setting up Tan Long to double the lead.
Meizhou’s Cameroonian midfielder Jerome Mbekeli received a red card in the 58th minute after a dangerous challenge on goalkeeper Wu Yake. Xu Yue added a third goal for Changchun in the 87th minute. Ji Shengpan managed to pull one back for Meizhou in stoppage time, but it was too late to change the outcome.
