China has unveiled its spectacular pavilion at the Osaka Expo 2025, captivating visitors with a fusion of ancient heritage and futuristic innovation. The opening ceremony, held on Sunday, featured a traditional lion dance and the mesmerizing performance of the dance drama “The Crested Ibis,” both warmly received by an audience of around 300 guests.
Designed to resemble a traditional Chinese calligraphy scroll, the pavilion stands as one of the largest foreign self-built structures at the Expo, covering approximately 3,500 square meters. Its theme, “Building a community of life for man and nature – future society of green development,” embodies China’s commitment to sustainable development and global collaboration.
Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, emphasized China’s strong support for Japan in hosting the Expo. “We hope our pavilion will present an image of a confident and open China,” he said, expressing optimism that the exhibit will contribute to a more equal and inclusive global future.
The pavilion is divided into three sections, showcasing China’s traditional ecological wisdom, modern green development initiatives, and vision for global cooperation in fostering sustainability. Highlights include side-by-side displays of lunar soil samples from China’s Chang’e-5 and Chang’e-6 missions, an immersive experience with the Jiaolong deep-sea submersible, and interactions with next-generation humanoid robots.
Dimitri Kerkentzes, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions, praised China’s participation in world expos. “Visitors to the China Pavilion will experience the country’s rich cultural heritage, ancient wisdom, and cutting-edge innovations,” he remarked.
Masakazu Tokura, Chairperson of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Expo, highlighted the importance of Japan-China relations. He expressed hope that Expo 2025 would serve as a launchpad for future-oriented international cooperation.
The Osaka Expo 2025 runs from April 13 to October 13, 2025, promising a global showcase of culture, technology, and sustainability. With its breathtaking design and innovative exhibits, the China Pavilion is set to be a must-see attraction for visitors from around the world.
