Xi Jinping Calls for China and Vietnam to Unite on Path to Modernization

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on China and Vietnam to join hands in pursuing modernization, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation between the neighboring nations. During his meeting on Monday with Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Xi highlighted the need for both countries to inject more stability and positive energy into the world.

President Xi noted that his recent state visit to Vietnam allowed him to witness firsthand the significant achievements of Vietnam’s Doi Moi (reform) initiatives. He expressed admiration for the profound friendship between China and Vietnam, grounded in shared history and mutual respect.

“Both China and Vietnam are at crucial stages of national development and rejuvenation,” Xi Jinping stated. “In the face of a complex international landscape, it is imperative that we strengthen our solidarity and coordination, uphold confidence in our chosen paths and systems, and work together towards modernization.”

Xi stressed the importance of high-level exchanges between the two Communist parties, advocating for timely communication on bilateral relations and pressing global issues. He called for enhanced cooperation between their legislative bodies and continued sharing of governance experiences.

The Chinese President also highlighted the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges as opportunities to deepen mutual understanding, especially among the youth. He encouraged efforts to carry forward the “red gene”—a reference to their shared revolutionary heritage—and to strengthen the friendly bond between the two nations.

Tran Thanh Man expressed gratitude for Xi Jinping’s visit and conveyed Vietnam’s commitment to fostering strong ties with China. “Our countries share a sincere friendship anchored in camaraderie and brotherhood,” Tran said. “The strategic guidance provided by our top leaders will undoubtedly open a new chapter in Vietnam-China relations.”

He affirmed the Vietnamese National Assembly’s eagerness to enhance communication and cooperation with China’s National People’s Congress. Tran emphasized the importance of implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of both parties and countries to contribute to common prosperity and development.

The meeting underscores the shared vision of China and Vietnam as they navigate a rapidly changing global environment. By uniting their efforts towards modernization, both nations aim to play a constructive role in promoting stability and positive developments on the world stage.
