Entitled “Building on past achievements and making new advances in pursuit of shared goals,” President Xi’s article reflects on the historical bonds between China and Vietnam. He emphasized the solidarity forged during times of struggle and the mutual support in each country’s development journey.

“China and Vietnam are friendly socialist neighbors sharing the same ideals and extensive strategic interests,” President Xi wrote. He pointed out that the profound friendship, established decades ago, has grown stronger as both nations explore paths suited to their national conditions and modernization efforts.

President Xi underscored the significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership, not only for the two countries but also for peace and prosperity in the region and beyond.

The Chinese leader recalled the historical cooperation between China and Vietnam, such as Chairman Ho Chi Minh’s involvement in China’s resistance against Japanese aggression and China’s support during Vietnam’s struggles for independence.

Looking forward, President Xi proposed deepening strategic mutual trust, enhancing win-win cooperation, strengthening people-to-people exchanges, boosting multilateral collaboration, and properly managing differences to safeguard regional peace and stability.

He expressed China’s readiness to work with Vietnam to “write a new chapter” in their relationship and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

President Xi’s visit marks a significant step in reinforcing diplomatic relations as both countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. His agenda includes meetings with Vietnamese leaders to discuss cooperation and draw up new blueprints for bilateral relations.
