Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to oppose power politics and unilateralism. The meeting, held during President Thuong’s state visit to China, highlighted the deepening ties between the two neighboring countries.

President Xi extended warm congratulations on significant milestones for Vietnam, including upcoming anniversaries of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the country’s independence. He noted that over the past decades, China-Vietnam relations have evolved from a traditional friendship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, setting a strong example of mutual assistance, solidarity, and cooperation between nations.

Standing at a new historical starting point, President Xi expressed China’s readiness to work closely with Vietnam to strengthen strategic communication, enhance solidarity, and coordinate efforts to advance their respective modernization processes. He emphasized the shared goal of writing a new chapter of unity, self-strengthening, mutual benefit, and win-win results among socialist countries, continuously demonstrating the regional and global influence of China-Vietnam cooperation.

President Xi called on both countries to respond to external uncertainties with friendly cooperation and leverage their socialist strengths. He highlighted that trade wars undermine the international trading system, destabilize the global economic order, and harm the legitimate interests of all countries, especially developing nations.

The leaders concluded by reaffirming their commitment to deepen bilateral relations and work together to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
