China Urges Dialogue Not Threats to Resolve Tariff Dispute with Us

China Calls for Dialogue to Resolve Trade Dispute with U.S.

China Urges Dialogue Over Tariff Dispute with U.S.

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday called on the United States to abandon pressure tactics and engage in dialogue to resolve the ongoing trade dispute. The appeal comes after the White House announced potential tariffs of up to 245% on Chinese imports, citing China’s “retaliatory actions.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that “the ball is in China’s court” regarding the trade deal. In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reaffirmed China’s position, emphasizing that trade wars are detrimental to all parties involved.

“Tariff and trade wars have no winners. China does not want to fight these wars but is not scared of them,” Lin said during a press briefing. “This tariff war was initiated by the U.S., and the necessary countermeasures taken by China are to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, as well as international fairness and justice.”

Lin urged the U.S. to cease its “extreme pressure” and “blackmailing” tactics. “If the U.S. truly wants to solve the problem through dialogue and negotiation, it should engage with China on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit,” the spokesperson added.

The escalating trade tensions have raised concerns globally, with many watching to see if the two economic giants can find common ground and avoid further escalation.
