Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit Malaysia, marking his second trip to the nation in 12 years. Ahead of his state visit, President Xi penned a heartfelt article titled “May the Ship of China-Malaysia Friendship Sail Toward an Even Brighter Future,” highlighting the deep-rooted ties and future collaboration between the two countries.
Embracing centuries of friendship, President Xi reflected on the historical connections that have linked China and Malaysia for over a thousand years. From the travels of Buddhist monk Yijing during the Tang Dynasty to the famous voyages of navigator Zheng He in the Ming Dynasty, the shared history has laid a strong foundation for today’s relationship.
President Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening strategic communication and mutual trust. He pointed out that both nations have respected each other’s development paths and have supported each other on issues of core interest. The leaders agreed on building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, marking a new milestone in their bilateral relations.
Trade and economic cooperation stand as key pillars in the China-Malaysia partnership. In recent years, trade between the two countries has soared, with China remaining Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years. President Xi highlighted the success of projects like the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park and the popularity of Malaysian durians among Chinese consumers.
President Xi called for deeper collaboration in areas such as the digital economy, green development, industrial investment, and infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges, encouraging more visits between the two nations to enhance mutual understanding, especially among the younger generation.
