Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have pledged to stand together against global challenges and promote regional unity. At a welcome dinner hosted by Anwar on Wednesday, Xi emphasized the importance of combating geopolitical tensions and opposing unilateralism and protectionism.
“Together, we will safeguard the bright prospects of our Asian family,” Xi said, highlighting the shared vision between China and Malaysia. Earlier in the day, the two leaders held cordial talks and reached significant agreements to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Xi expressed China’s eagerness to work with Malaysia to build a high-level strategic partnership and usher in a new era of collaboration, referring to it as the “golden 50 years” of China-Malaysia relations. “Together, we will energize modernization in both of our countries, set up a fine example of unity and cooperation for the Global South, and make new and greater contributions to peace, stability, and prosperity in our region and beyond,” he added.
The meeting signifies a strengthened commitment between the two nations to address regional issues collectively and foster a united front in the face of global uncertainties.
