At the 15th Beijing International Film Festival’s Industry Forum on April 19, Janet Yang, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, spoke about China’s growing cultural influence and the vast potential of its film market.
Drawing from her decades of experience in the film industry, Yang emphasized that “film has a unique power to bring people together.” She expressed optimism about cultural exchanges not only between China and the United States but also among countries around the world.
Yang highlighted recent Chinese achievements as evidence of its rising cultural voice. She mentioned the historic box-office success of “Ne Zha 2,” global sensations like the video game “Black Myth: Wukong,” and the adaptation of “The Three-Body Problem.” China’s cultural voice is “claiming its rightful place on the world stage,” she stated.
For young film enthusiasts and creators, Yang’s message is an inspiring reminder of the power of storytelling and the importance of cultural representation in media.
