China’s top golfer Li Haotong and Spain’s Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra are heading into a thrilling final round at the Volvo China Open, tied at the top of the leaderboard after both shooting two-under-par 69s on Saturday.
Li, the 2016 champion, started strong with three birdies in his first eight holes at the Enhance Anting Golf Club in Shanghai. Despite a couple of bogeys on the back nine, he maintained his composure to finish at 12-under overall.
“It’s been a challenging day, but I’m happy with how I managed my game,” Li said. “Tomorrow’s final round is going to be exciting.”
Lopez-Chacarra matched Li’s performance, securing a crucial birdie on the 14th hole to pull even. The Spaniard has been in impressive form, and the duo’s rivalry promises an electrifying finish.
Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat made a significant move, shooting a remarkable six-under 65 to claim third place. Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen, who led earlier rounds, slipped to a tie for fourth after an even-par 71, sharing the spot with China’s Dou Zecheng and Germany’s Yannik Paul.
