Ai powered Healthcare Takes Spotlight at Medical Conference in China

AI Takes Center Stage at Beijing’s Medical Conference

Artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare, and nowhere was this more evident than at the 2025 China Medical Development Conference in Beijing this weekend. Experts from across China came together to explore how AI is reshaping medicine and improving health outcomes.

Wang Chen, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, shared an exciting roadmap for integrating AI into healthcare. “We’re starting with pilot programs,” he said. “Soon, we’ll dive deeper with international collaborations, and eventually, we’ll have an AI-driven ecosystem that covers research, clinical care, and health management.”

The conference highlighted the need for ethical standards and high-quality data in AI development. “Collaboration between different fields is key, especially in areas like medical imaging and brain-computer interfaces,” said Zheng Hairong, vice president of Nanjing University.

China is pushing forward with its “AI Plus” initiative, aiming to make diagnostics and treatments more precise and efficient. Participants at the conference emphasized the importance of a secure and well-regulated environment to ensure public trust in AI technologies.

“We need top-notch medical datasets and language resources for AI,” said Shen Jianfeng from the National Health Commission. “Investing in talent and focusing on medical ethics are crucial steps.”

A major highlight was the unveiling of the “Top Medical Advances in China 2024” by CAMS. From over 310,000 research projects, thirteen breakthroughs were selected, including a method to detect Alzheimer’s disease years before symptoms appear and a gene therapy for hereditary deafness.

The future of healthcare in China looks brighter than ever, with AI leading the way to innovative solutions that could benefit people worldwide.
