Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Beijing on Wednesday. The two officials engaged in in-depth discussions concerning the latest developments in Iran’s nuclear program and related international negotiations.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal. They emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve outstanding issues and promote stability in the Middle East.
“China values its strategic partnership with Iran and supports the peaceful resolution of nuclear matters through dialogue,” Wang Yi stated. He underscored China’s ongoing efforts to facilitate communication between involved parties.
Araghchi expressed appreciation for China’s constructive role in the negotiations. “We are committed to fulfilling our obligations under the JCPOA, provided that other parties do the same,” he said. “Iran seeks balanced and reciprocal commitments to ensure the deal’s sustainability.”
The talks come amid renewed international focus on Iran’s nuclear activities and discussions on lifting sanctions. Both nations agreed to continue their cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues.
