Building Bridges: China’s top political advisor, Wang Huning, welcomed Tetsuo Saito, leader of Japan’s Komeito Party, in Beijing on Wednesday. The high-profile meeting signals a fresh commitment to strengthen ties and foster cooperation between the two nations.
Wang Huning, a prominent member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), underscored the importance of implementing the consensus achieved by the leaders of China and Japan. He urged both countries to honor their commitments, deepen mutual understanding, promote win-win cooperation, and unite to tackle shared challenges.
“The ruling parties of our countries should actively lead in building China-Japan relations that meet the demands of the new era,” Wang asserted. He highlighted the CPPCC’s eagerness to enhance exchanges and collaboration with Japanese institutions.
Tetsuo Saito reaffirmed the Komeito Party’s dedication to fostering the spirit of friendship between Japan and China. “We are willing to advance the leaders’ consensus through dialogue and exchanges between our ruling parties,” Saito stated.
Saito emphasized the Komeito Party’s readiness to strengthen public support for bilateral relations.
