Pakistan has embarked on an exciting journey to send its astronaut to the China Space Station, following a cooperation agreement signed between Pakistan and China in February. The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced on Wednesday that the selection process for Pakistani astronauts is now underway.
The selection process mirrors that of China’s, consisting of three stages: preliminary selection, secondary selection, and final selection. The preliminary selection is being conducted in Pakistan, while the secondary and final stages will take place in China. Ultimately, two Pakistani astronauts will be chosen to undergo training in China.
According to the CMSA, one Pakistani astronaut will join a joint spaceflight mission as a payload specialist. This astronaut will not only perform daily duties alongside the crew but will also operate scientific experiments on behalf of Pakistan.
This collaboration marks a significant step in international space cooperation. China is also in discussions with other countries about sending their astronauts to the China Space Station, with more updates to be announced in the future.
The joint mission underscores the growing ties between Pakistan and China and opens up new opportunities for scientific research and exploration in space.
