Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged greater unity between the military, government, and civilians, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in advancing the nation’s development. In a recent instruction conveyed at a national conference on Wednesday, President Xi highlighted the need to uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), promote reform and innovation, and improve policies that strengthen ties between the military and civilian sectors.
Describing the mutual support between the military and civilians as a “fine tradition” and a “unique political advantage” for China, President Xi called on Party committees and governments at all levels to support military development and reform. He encouraged efforts to address the concerns of military personnel and to foster a positive social atmosphere that values national defense and honors those who serve.
“The military should actively support local construction and development,” President Xi emphasized, urging the armed forces to take concrete actions that benefit the people and promote prosperity. He called for enhanced collaboration to consolidate the “rock-solid unity” between the military, the government, and the people.
Premier Li Qiang, speaking at the same event, echoed President Xi’s sentiments. He stressed the necessity of implementing the instructions and exploring new ways to promote mutual support between the military and the civilian sectors. Premier Li urged local governments and departments to raise national defense awareness and to take proactive measures in advancing the modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
The conference honored model cities and counties that have excelled in promoting cooperation between the military and civilians. The leaders’ remarks underscore China’s focus on strengthening national unity and advancing its strategic goals through collaboration across different sectors.
