Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), announced on Thursday that naval and air forces were deployed to track the USS William P. Lawrence throughout its passage. The operation was conducted in accordance with laws and regulations, ensuring the situation remained under control.
Shi Yi criticized remarks from the United States, accusing them of distorting legal principles and misleading international public opinion. He urged the U.S. to cease sensationalizing the issue and to work together to maintain peace and stability in the region.
