China and Vietnam have completed their first joint coast guard patrol of 2025 in the Beibu Gulf, marking the 29th collaboration between the two nations’ maritime law enforcement agencies since 2006.
The three-day mission concluded on Thursday, with coast guard ships from both countries observing and inspecting fishing vessels while navigating planned routes in the Beibu Gulf waters. The operation aimed to ensure the safety of fishermen, enforce maritime laws, and protect fishery resources.
In addition to patrolling, the teams conducted a joint maritime search and rescue exercise. This drill enhanced their coordination and emergency response capabilities, demonstrating a commitment to regional security and cooperation.
The China Coast Guard (CCG) emphasized that these biannual patrols have become a model for maritime law enforcement collaboration in the South China Sea. By working together, China and Vietnam are contributing to the conservation of marine resources, maintaining order in fishing activities, combating maritime crime, and promoting stability in the region.
