China Vows to Counteract US ‘Bullying’ and Deepen Ties with Tajikistan

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi declared on Friday that China will continue to counteract what it calls unilateral bullying by the United States. Speaking during a meeting with Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Almaty, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to defending its legitimate rights and the shared interests of the international community.

\”China will firmly oppose unilateral bullying to safeguard international fairness and justice,\” Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stated. \”We are ready to work with all parties to uphold free trade and oppose protectionism.\”

The meeting between the two foreign ministers took place during the Sixth China-Central Asia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. They exchanged views on current tariff issues and discussed strengthening cooperation between their nations.

Strengthening China-Tajikistan Relations

Wang Yi highlighted the positive results of comprehensive cooperation between China and Tajikistan under the strategic guidance of their leaders. He affirmed China’s support for Tajikistan’s chosen path of development and its opposition to external interference in Tajikistan’s internal affairs.

\”China will further consolidate strategic mutual trust with Tajikistan, deepen developmental synergy, and expand friendly exchanges to support both countries’ modernization and national revitalization,\” Wang said.

Muhriddin expressed Tajikistan’s readiness to work closely with China, fully utilizing bilateral cooperation mechanisms and advancing initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between legislative bodies, local governments, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Expanding Cooperation in Various Sectors

The two sides discussed expanding collaboration in trade and investment, connectivity, e-commerce, industrial capacity, green transformation, and the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Muhriddin welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Tajikistan and looked forward to identifying innovative growth opportunities.

They also agreed to jointly support the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the China-Central Asia mechanism in playing a greater role. Both countries committed to strengthening border control and counterterrorism cooperation to safeguard regional security and stability.

Wang Yi noted that China supports Tajikistan in playing a more active role in international and regional affairs, including hosting the first High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
