China and Thailand Strengthen Ties: A New Era of Cooperation

Beijing, China — China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized on Monday that China places high priority on its relationship with Thailand, highlighting a commitment to deepen cooperation across various fields. Meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, Wang Yi stated that China is ready to work closely with Thailand to enhance practical cooperation and contribute to regional peace and stability.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, welcomed Thailand’s participation as a partner country in BRICS and supported its full engagement in BRICS cooperation. This move signifies a strengthening of ties within emerging economies and a shared vision for development.

Maris expressed enthusiasm for the opportunities that China’s modernization brings to Thailand. He conveyed Thailand’s hope to join the BRICS family, strengthen Global South cooperation, and safeguard the common interests of developing nations.

Both nations agreed on several key initiatives:

  • Accelerating the construction of the China-Thailand railway to enhance connectivity and economic growth.
  • Continuing international cooperation on giant panda conservation, symbolizing friendship and cultural exchange.
  • Resolutely cracking down on telecom fraud and other cross-border crimes to ensure safety and security.
  • Advancing the construction of the Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, promoting trade and development in the region.

This meeting marks a significant step forward in China-Thailand relations, promising increased collaboration and mutual benefits for both countries.
