Guizhou’s Village Cultural Show Sparks Tourism Boom with 800 Million Views

A village cultural show, or cunxi, in Yinjiang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County of southwest China’s Guizhou Province has ignited a tourism boom, amassing an astounding 800 million online views over just 200 days.

The grand finale of the first season of Yinjiang’s village cultural shows kicked off on April 26, just ahead of the May Day holiday. Competing teams dazzled audiences by infusing their performances of intangible cultural heritage with creative twists. They incorporated elements like oiled paper umbrellas and the unique card game of the Bo ethnic group, offering both locals and visitors a captivating blend of traditional artistry and modern innovation.

Yinjiang’s initiative to organize a series of village cultural events has become a vibrant community platform. By encouraging townships to form teams, searching for hidden talents in the countryside, and welcoming voluntary participation from villagers, the county has showcased the rich appeal of its culture and tourism resources.

This cultural extravaganza has catapulted Yinjiang into the spotlight, serving as a powerful catalyst for the growth of the local cultural tourism sector. The village shows have breathed new life into the industry, attracting visitors eager to experience the region’s unique heritage firsthand.
