Rio de Janeiro — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi hailed Cuba’s resilience against global pressure during a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on Tuesday. The two leaders vowed to deepen cooperation and support each other’s paths of development.
Wang Yi emphasized the strong partnership between China and Cuba, stating that China admires Cuba’s steadfast defense of its national sovereignty and opposition to external interference. “China will continue to stand by Cuba in its fight against economic blockades and foreign meddling,” Wang Yi said.
The Chinese foreign minister expressed readiness to enhance collaboration across various fields, aiming to boost Cuba’s capacity for self-driven development. He highlighted the importance of solidarity in the face of shifting global dynamics.
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, expressing gratitude for China’s longstanding support, noted the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations. “Despite changes on the international stage, Cuba and China have always supported each other,” he said. “We are committed to strengthening high-level exchanges and cooperation, walking together on the path of socialism.”
Rodriguez Parrilla also expressed Cuba’s desire to receive continued support from China in its national development and revitalization efforts.
The meeting in Rio de Janeiro underscores the commitment of both countries to reinforce their strategic partnership amid global challenges.
