China and Nigeria Unite to Reject Protectionism and Bullying

China is strengthening its ties with Nigeria to jointly oppose protectionism, hegemony, and bullying, aiming to uphold multilateralism and fairness on the global stage.

On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two nations. Wang Yi emphasized China’s willingness to work with African countries, including Nigeria, and other developing nations to promote justice in international affairs.

“China welcomes Nigeria as a partner country at the upcoming BRICS meeting and supports its greater role in international and regional matters,” Wang Yi stated.

Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the one-China principle and expressed appreciation for China’s zero-tariff treatment for the least developed African countries with which it has diplomatic relations. He also hopes China will continue to support the development of West Africa.

“Nigeria is eager to collaborate closely with China to safeguard multilateralism and advance the common interests of the Global South,” Tuggar added.
