Deadly Blast Rocks Taiyuan Residential Complex
On Wednesday afternoon, a powerful explosion ripped through a residential complex in Taiyuan, capital of north China’s Shanxi Province, leaving one person dead and two others missing, according to local authorities.
The blast occurred around 1 p.m. in the Beiying neighborhood of the Xiaodian District. The explosion triggered a fire that was extinguished by 3 p.m.
A total of 21 people are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals. Among them, six are reported to have serious injuries, while 15 sustained minor injuries.
In response to the incident, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management swiftly convened a video conference to coordinate rescue operations. A response team has been dispatched to the site to oversee relief efforts.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of conducting thorough searches of the affected buildings to locate any trapped individuals, while ensuring the safety of rescue personnel to prevent secondary accidents. Prioritizing medical care for the injured remains a top concern.
Local fire and rescue teams have mobilized 210 personnel and 43 vehicles to aid in the emergency response. Rescue efforts are ongoing as teams work diligently to ensure the safety of residents.
