Chinese Premier Li Qiang sent a congratulatory message to Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Saturday, welcoming her as the new Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
In his message, Premier Li emphasized Trinidad and Tobago’s significance as a pivotal partner in the Caribbean region. He highlighted that over the past 51 years since establishing diplomatic ties, both countries have enjoyed steady growth in their relationship, fruitful cooperation across various fields, and a deepening traditional friendship between their peoples.
Li praised Persad-Bissessar’s role as a key participant and promoter of the development of China-Trinidad and Tobago relations. He expressed China’s readiness to work closely with her to seize new opportunities presented by high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
“I look forward to elevating our comprehensive cooperative partnership to new heights and bringing more benefits to our peoples,” Premier Li stated in his message.
