China and Gabon are set to take their relationship to new heights as both countries pledged to enhance their strategic cooperative partnership. On May 4 in Libreville, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Mu Hong, met with Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema to discuss deepening ties.
Mu Hong, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended President Nguema’s inauguration ceremony on May 3 at the invitation of the Gabonese leader. The visit emphasized China’s dedication to its longstanding friendship with Gabon.
“China highly values its relationship with Gabon,” Mu said. “We’re eager to work together to strengthen our traditional friendship, deepen mutual trust through solidarity and cooperation, and achieve win-win outcomes for both nations.”
President Nguema expressed his appreciation to President Xi for sending a special envoy and reaffirmed Gabon’s commitment to the one-China principle. “Gabon will continue to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields and promote greater development of our bilateral relations,” Nguema stated.
The meeting highlighted the strong bonds between China and Gabon, focusing on shared goals like solidarity, mutual development, and forging stronger ties for the future.
