China’s tourism sector is soaring to new heights this May Day holiday, fueled by the launch of new summer-autumn flight routes that are boosting both domestic and international travel.
From May 1 to 5, the total number of cross-regional passenger trips across the country reached an astonishing 1.467 billion, averaging 293 million per day. This represents an impressive eight percent growth compared to the same period last year.
The surge in travel is a clear indication of China’s commitment to expanding its civil aviation sector. The country is set to enhance its global reach with numerous new international routes scheduled to launch in 2025. This expansion reflects the rising demand for cross-border travel and China’s efforts to strengthen its international air network.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the 2025 summer-autumn flight season will run from March 30 to October 25. This extended season is expected to accommodate the increasing number of travelers and support the continued growth of the tourism industry.
The combination of increased flight routes and a strong desire to travel has set the stage for a booming tourism sector, signaling a positive outlook for China’s economy and offering new opportunities for travelers both within China and around the world.
