The 137th China Import and Export Fair, widely known as the Canton Fair, concluded on Monday in Guangdong Province, setting new records in overseas participation. Over 288,000 international buyers attended the event, marking a 17.3-percent increase from the previous session and reaching an all-time high.

Among the attendees, 171,750 were first-time visitors, highlighting the growing global interest in China’s trade market. Notably, purchasers from countries involved in Belt and Road cooperation totaled 187,450, up 17.4 percent year-on-year, making up nearly 65 percent of all overseas buyers.

The fair also attracted more than 527,000 online buyers from 229 countries and regions, emphasizing the event’s expanding digital reach. Exhibitors showcased a staggering 4.55 million products, including over one million new products, 880,000 green and low-carbon items, and 320,000 smart products.

A standout feature this year was the inaugural service robotics zone. Forty-six Chinese manufacturers presented over 500 advanced robots, demonstrating applications across 60 industries. This highlight reflects China’s emphasis on innovation and technology in international trade.

Established in 1957, the Canton Fair is held twice a year in Guangzhou and is considered a barometer of China’s foreign trade. Its continuous growth and expanding international participation underscore China’s pivotal role in the global market.
