A Japanese fishing vessel has been expelled from the waters around China’s Diaoyu Dao after it unlawfully entered the area, the China Coast Guard (CCG) announced on Thursday.
According to CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun, the incident took place between Wednesday and Thursday. The CCG took action by issuing warnings and escorting the vessel out of the territorial waters, following legal procedures.
"The Chinese Coast Guard took necessary control measures in accordance with the law," Liu said in a statement.
The Diaoyu Dao, located in the East China Sea, is a group of islands that China asserts have been part of its territory since ancient times. Incursions by foreign vessels are viewed as violations of China’s sovereignty.
This episode highlights ongoing maritime tensions in the region and underscores the need for respect of territorial boundaries to maintain peace and stability.
