Russia has begun airing the international version of “The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping,” a multilingual television show produced by China Media Group (CMG). The program’s launch coincided with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Moscow this week, marking a significant moment in China-Russia cultural exchange.
Over 200 guests from China and Russia attended the launch event in Moscow on Wednesday. Notable attendees included Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG; Oleg Dobrodeev, CEO of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK); and Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
This marks the fourth time the program has been launched in Russia. Shen highlighted that the latest edition not only brings to life President Xi’s governance philosophy through timeless anecdotes but also introduces new content focusing on ecological protection, talent development, family values, and education.
Dobrodeev noted that previous seasons of the Russian version of “The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping” received strong viewership and sparked enthusiastic responses across Russia. He expressed hope that the international edition would deepen Russian viewers’ appreciation of China’s rich cultural heritage and the wisdom of Chinese civilization.
Lyubimova emphasized that the program underscores President Xi’s profound reflections on cultural inheritance and mutual learning among civilizations. She stated that it represents another milestone in the growing cultural exchange and media cooperation between China and Russia, strengthening the enduring friendship between the two countries.
In a video message, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui mentioned that several China-Russia cultural initiatives were launched at a cultural exchange event on Wednesday. He expressed confidence that these efforts would further enhance the Russian people’s understanding of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary China, fostering closer ties between the two nations.
The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping is now being broadcast across multiple Russian platforms, including VGTRK, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and Gazprom Media.
