Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have pledged to deepen ties and share special responsibilities as major global powers. Meeting in Russia during Xi's state visit, the two leaders discussed enhancing cooperation and addressing international challenges together.
Xi emphasized the importance of China and Russia working closely to promote global fairness and justice. "In the face of unilateralism and bullying in the world, China will work with Russia to shoulder their special responsibility as major countries and permanent members of the UN Security Council," Xi said.
The leaders highlighted the need to promote a correct understanding of World War II history, maintain the authority of the United Nations, and safeguard international justice. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in various fields including economy, trade, energy, agriculture, aerospace, and artificial intelligence.
Xi noted that China-Russia relations have grown stronger over the years, with deepening political mutual trust and flourishing cultural exchanges. He expressed confidence that continued collaboration is key for both nations to achieve mutual success and contribute to global development.
The meeting also underscored plans to leverage initiatives like China's Belt and Road and the Eurasian Economic Union to boost connectivity and cooperation. Xi called for closer coordination in international platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, emphasizing the importance of unity among countries in the Global South.
"China stands ready to work with Russia to uphold the global multilateral trading system, keep industrial and supply chains stable, and make greater contributions to the development and rejuvenation of both countries," Xi stated.
