Xi Jinping Highlights Stronger China-Russia Relations in New Era

Moscow, Russia — Chinese President Xi Jinping has declared that China-Russia relations have become more confident, stable, and resilient in the new era. Speaking during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, President Xi emphasized the strengthening bond between the two nations.

President Xi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for a state visit and to participate in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War. The commemorations hold significant historical importance for both countries.

An Equal, Multipolar World

Amid rising unilateralism and acts of power politics on the global stage, President Xi called for a united stance between China and Russia. He stressed the importance of promoting a correct historical perspective on World War II, safeguarding the authority of the United Nations, and defending the rights and interests of China, Russia, and developing countries worldwide.

“We should jointly promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and foster an inclusive economic globalization that benefits all,” Xi stated during his discussions with Putin.

President Xi highlighted that continued development and deepening of China-Russia relations are essential for carrying forward the longstanding friendship between the two peoples. He noted that this collaboration is crucial for both nations to achieve mutual success and drive their own development and revitalization.

“It is the call of the times to safeguard international fairness and justice and to promote reform in the global governance system,” he added.

Shared History and Future Cooperation

This year marks the 80th anniversary of several significant historical events, including the victories of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War, and the World Anti-Fascist War. President Xi reflected on the tremendous sacrifices made by the people of China and Russia during these conflicts.

“Eighty years ago, our peoples made remarkable historic contributions to maintaining world peace and advancing human progress,” Xi remarked.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the future of China-Russia relations, emphasizing cooperation in various fields to promote global stability and prosperity.
