China and Venezuela have reaffirmed their “ironclad” friendship as Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday. The leaders highlighted their mutual trust and commitment to common development during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
President Xi emphasized the strong partnership between the two nations, noting that China will continue to firmly support Venezuela in safeguarding its sovereignty, national dignity, and social stability. “China and Venezuela are good partners of mutual trust and common development,” Xi said. “We have forged an ironclad friendship amid the changing global situation.”
Since elevating their relationship to an all-weather strategic partnership in 2023, China and Venezuela have seen active exchanges across various fields. Xi highlighted the continuous growth in bilateral trade, progress in investment cooperation, and deepening cultural ties between the two countries.
“China is willing to work with Venezuela and other Latin American countries to firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core,” Xi added, underscoring the importance of promoting the steady development of the China-Latin America and Caribbean community with a shared future.
President Maduro expressed his gratitude for China’s valuable support and assistance in Venezuela’s pursuit of sovereignty and economic and social development. “China is Venezuela’s good friend,” Maduro said. “We look forward to strengthening our all-weather strategic partnership with China, deepening cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, science and technology, education, and achieving tangible results to better benefit our peoples.”
Maduro praised President Xi’s concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, stating that it opens up bright prospects for world peace and development. He affirmed Venezuela’s willingness to strengthen coordination with China, adhere to multilateralism, and safeguard international fairness and justice.
