In Quyang County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, the Chen Wenzeng Ding Porcelain Art Museum is breathing new life into an art form lost for centuries. Opened to the public in June 2017, the museum honors the remarkable efforts of master craftsman Chen Wenzeng, who dedicated over 40 years to reviving the ancient Ding porcelain technique.
The museum showcases thousands of Chen’s meticulously crafted porcelain pieces, each reflecting the delicate artistry that once made Ding porcelain one of China’s most prized cultural treasures. Through engaging exhibitions and archaeological displays, visitors are transported back over a millennium to explore the evolution of this exquisite craft.
Originating in Quyang, Ding porcelain is renowned for its jade-like hues and unique decorative patterns. It reached the height of its popularity during the Song Dynasty, standing among the five most famous forms of porcelain of that era. The museum not only preserves this rich heritage but also inspires a new generation to appreciate and continue the legacy of Ding porcelain.
