Wang Yi Meets Nicaraguas Presidential Advisor Foreign Minister

China and Nicaragua Deepen Cooperation in Beijing Talks

Beijing, China—Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nicaragua’s presidential adviser Laureano Ortega Murillo and Foreign Minister Valdrack Ludwing Jaentschke Whitaker on Monday to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China’s commitment to enhancing mutual trust and cooperation with Nicaragua. “China is willing to work with Nicaragua to consolidate high-level mutual trust,” Wang stated, emphasizing China’s readiness to provide assistance and prioritize cooperation projects that support Nicaragua’s independent development.

He also encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Nicaragua, expressing confidence that Nicaragua will continue to foster friendly relations and provide a favorable business environment for investors.

Nicaragua’s presidential adviser, Laureano Ortega Murillo, affirmed his country’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to unilateral actions such as imposing excessive tariffs. He highlighted Nicaragua’s strong support for the Belt and Road Initiative and the three major global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting their contributions to global peace, security, stability, and development.

The meeting signifies a growing partnership between China and Nicaragua, focusing on mutual development and cooperation on the global stage.
