China and Venezuela Strengthen Ties as Foreign Ministers Meet in Beijing

Beijing, China — In a significant move to bolster their partnership, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Gil in Beijing on Monday. The two nations reaffirmed their status as trusted friends and strategic partners, aiming to enhance cooperation amidst global challenges.

Wang Yi emphasized that China’s relationship with Venezuela is a priority, highlighting the direction set by the two countries’ leaders for future bilateral ties. “China is ready to work with Venezuela to implement our leaders’ consensus and deliver concrete results for both nations,” Wang said.

The Chinese foreign minister praised Venezuela’s efforts toward independent development and expressed support for closer collaboration under multilateral frameworks. He welcomed the introduction of more Venezuelan products into the Chinese market and called for strengthened ties in agriculture, trade, and energy sectors.

Furthermore, Wang Yi acknowledged Latin America’s growing role on the global stage, reaffirming China’s support for regional unity and opposition to hegemonism. He commended Venezuela’s active participation in the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum.

Yvan Gil expressed satisfaction with the progress in bilateral cooperation, praising China’s role in promoting peace and development. “Our partnership with China is pivotal for Venezuela’s future,” Gil stated.
