In a significant move to strengthen ties, China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) have unveiled a joint action plan to deepen cooperation from 2025 to 2027. The announcement was made during the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum held in Beijing on Tuesday.
The comprehensive plan consists of five key areas, focusing on promoting equality and political mutual trust among China and CELAC member states. It aims to enhance alignment of development strategies, encourage mutual learning among civilizations, and collaboratively address global challenges.
“This action plan marks a new chapter in our partnership, fostering closer ties and shared progress,” said a representative from the Chinese mainland. “By working together, we can achieve sustainable development and bring tangible benefits to our peoples.”
The plan emphasizes cooperation in sectors such as economics, culture, technology, and environmental protection. It underscores a mutual commitment to uphold multilateralism and support each other in international affairs.
For young people across the Global South, this initiative promises new opportunities in education, employment, and cultural exchange. As China and CELAC countries strengthen their collaboration, there’s growing optimism for a more connected and prosperous future.
