Xi Jinping’s New Article Urges Improved Work Conduct for Party Officials

Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling on Party officials to improve their work conduct and strengthen their bond with the people. In a new article set to be published on Friday in the Qiushi Journal, Xi emphasizes the critical importance of good work conduct for the survival of a governing party.

The article is based on excerpts from Xi’s statements made between December 2012 and March 2023, focusing on the implementation of the Party’s eight-point rules. These rules were introduced to promote full and rigorous self-governance within the Communist Party of China (CPC), aiming to curb corruption and improve the Party’s image among the public.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the Party has taken bold steps to address internal issues. By enforcing the eight-point rules, significant improvements have been made in Party conduct, government officials’ working practices, and social morality.

Xi’s article stresses the need for a strict approach to implementing these rules. He urges leading officials at all levels to set a good example and remain vigilant against new forms of misconduct.

“Efforts to strengthen Party and government conduct must align with maintaining a close bond with the people,” Xi writes. He calls for consistent and persevering efforts to prevent any resurgence of past problems.

For young people in the Global South, this message highlights the importance of integrity and responsibility among leaders. As future leaders yourselves, understanding these principles is key to fostering a society based on trust and ethical conduct.
