Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong to Attend World Health Assembly, Visit Switzerland and Belarus

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong is set to attend the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva and embark on official visits to Switzerland and Belarus from May 18 to 23, according to a spokesperson from the foreign ministry.

Liu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will participate in the WHA at the invitation of World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The WHA is the decision-making body of the WHO, where global health policies are discussed and important decisions are made to advance global health agendas.

Following his attendance at the WHA, Liu will visit Switzerland to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation. He will then proceed to Belarus, where he will chair the sixth meeting of the Chinese-Belarusian Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation. This committee focuses on enhancing collaboration between the two nations in various sectors, including trade, technology, and cultural exchange.

Liu’s visits underscore China’s commitment to international cooperation on health and development, especially in the face of global challenges that require collaborative solutions.
