Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a heartfelt congratulatory message to the 34th Arab League Summit held in Baghdad on Saturday, extending his best wishes to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, the current chairperson of the League.
In his message, President Xi highlighted the Arab League’s unwavering commitment over the past 80 years to promoting unity, self-reliance, and prosperity in the Arab world. He acknowledged the organization’s active role in voicing the shared concerns of Arab states and fostering peace and stability in the Middle East.
“As the world experiences profound changes unseen in a century, the Middle East is at a pivotal moment,” Xi said. He praised Arab countries for their dedication to independence, development, and justice, noting their significant contribution to enhancing the influence of the Global South.
President Xi emphasized the strong and growing relationship between China and Arab states, calling it a model of unity and cooperation among developing nations. Recalling the first China-Arab States Summit held in December 2022, he expressed optimism for the upcoming second summit scheduled in China in 2026, predicting it will mark another milestone in China-Arab relations.
Looking to the future, Xi assured Arab states that China remains a steadfast friend and partner, committed to deepening political trust, enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation, and increasing cultural exchanges. “Together, we can embark on the path of modernization and build a higher-level China-Arab community with a shared future,” he stated.
