President Xi Stresses High-Quality Development in Upcoming Five-Year Plan
President Xi Jinping has called for a high-quality, democratic, and law-based approach in formulating China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), emphasizing its importance for the nation’s future development.
In a recent statement, Xi highlighted that the scientific creation and consistent implementation of five-year plans are key experiences in the Communist Party of China’s governance. He noted that the upcoming plan is crucial for achieving strategic initiatives set out during the 20th CPC National Congress and advancing Chinese modernization.
Xi urged for a combination of top-level design and public consultation, encouraging research, discussions, and building a broad consensus. “Integrating insights from officials, experts, scholars, and the general public will ensure the plan reflects the aspirations of the people,” he said.
With preparations underway, the CPC Central Committee is organizing the drafting of proposals for the new plan. Relevant departments are set to gather opinions and suggestions through various channels in the near future.
China’s Five-Year Plans are significant policy blueprints guiding the country’s economic and social development. The 15th edition aims to continue this tradition, focusing on sustainable growth and innovation.
As the world’s second-largest economy, China’s development strategies have global implications, particularly for countries in the Global South. The emphasis on modernization and high-quality development could present opportunities for international collaboration and shared growth.
