Beijing, China — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed China’s strong support for Pakistan and India to resolve their differences through dialogue. Speaking on Tuesday after holding talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Wang emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire between the two neighboring countries.
Wang highlighted that peaceful dialogue aligns with the fundamental and long-term interests of both Pakistan and India. He stated that such efforts are conducive to regional peace and stability and meet the common expectations of the international community.
China and Pakistan have maintained close strategic communication, strengthening their traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. Wang noted that this reflects the high level of bilateral relations between the two nations. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to firmly supporting Pakistan in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions, combating terrorism, and playing a greater role in international and regional affairs.
He called on both countries to work together to upgrade the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), enhancing cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy and minerals, human resources development, counter-terrorism, and security.
Mohammad Ishaq Dar expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its friendship with China. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s adherence to the one-China principle and support for China in safeguarding its national interests and dignity. Dar admired China’s achievements in innovation and technological progress and expressed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen all-round cooperation with China. He also assured that Pakistan would do its utmost to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions within the country.
Regarding the situation with India, Dar briefed Wang on the latest developments following a ceasefire understanding. He thanked China for its efforts in promoting peace and supporting the ceasefire. Dar emphasized that Pakistan is willing to maintain dialogue with India to ease tensions and is committed to safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The two leaders also exchanged views on strengthening regional cooperation and deepening coordination in multilateral mechanisms, aiming to promote stability and development in the region.
