Shanghai International Film and TV Festival Set to Dazzle in June

The 2025 Shanghai International Film Festival is gearing up to light up the city from June 13 to June 22, followed by the Shanghai TV Festival from June 23 to 27. Organizers announced the exciting lineup at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday, promising a star-studded celebration of global cinema and television.

Jointly organized by the China Media Group and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, this year’s festivals will feature over 3,900 films and nearly 1,000 TV programs vying for the prestigious Golden Goblet Award and the Magnolia Award, respectively.

Renowned Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore, best known for his film “Cinema Paradiso,” will chair the jury for the Golden Goblet Awards. Leading the TV category, celebrated Chinese actor Chen Baoguo will serve as the jury president for the Magnolia Award.

In a bid to offer fresh perspectives, the film festival is introducing an “Asia Now” section to spotlight contemporary Asian cinema. Additionally, to commemorate 50 years of China-European Union relations and 55 years of China-Italy ties, a special Italian Film Week will showcase over 20 Italian masterpieces across nearly 100 screenings, including classics like “Rome” and “Cinema Paradiso.”

The full schedule of screenings will be released on June 3. Film enthusiasts can purchase tickets starting June 5 at 12:00 pm via the Damai and Taopiaopiao ticketing platforms.
