China and the Netherlands Strengthen Ties in Beijing Meeting

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed his Dutch counterpart Caspar Veldkamp to Beijing on Thursday, marking a significant step in strengthening the ties between China and the Netherlands.

During their meeting in the capital, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, praised the Netherlands for its consistent support of free trade and commitment to multilateralism on the global stage.

“Although China and the Netherlands have different systems and civilizations, our peoples share a spirit of pioneering innovation, unwavering perseverance, and the courage to be trailblazers,” Wang Yi remarked.

He highlighted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both countries have maintained an open and pragmatic approach, leading their cooperation to stand at the forefront of China-Europe relations.

Caspar Veldkamp expressed deep respect for China, its people, and its rich culture. He lauded the remarkable progress China has achieved in its development, emphasizing that the Netherlands regards its relationship with China as one of its most important bilateral partnerships.

The discussions underscored a mutual commitment to enhancing collaboration across various sectors, despite global changes and challenges.
