China has reiterated its unwavering commitment to reunification with Taiwan, declaring it an inevitable outcome. At a regular press briefing on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded to recent remarks by a Taiwan political figure advocating separatist rhetoric.
“Taiwan has never been a country, and such claims only expose someone’s arrogance and ignorance, representing blatant provocation for ‘Taiwan independence’,” Mao stated.
She emphasized that there is only one China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of its territory. “The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government that represents China, which is a fact recognized by the international community,” she added.
Mao affirmed that the future of Taiwan can only be decided by the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots. “China will and must be reunified eventually, which is a historical trend that no force can stop,” she declared.
