China’s Vice Premier Meets Citigroup and Carlyle Leaders to Boost Economic Ties

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng met separately with Citigroup Chair John Dugan and Carlyle Group CEO Harvey Schwartz in Beijing on Friday, signaling China’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with global financial institutions.

He Lifeng, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s robust economic rebound and the solid progress achieved through high-quality development efforts. He highlighted the resilience and vitality of China’s economy, noting that the country will continue to expand its high-level opening up to the outside world.

“China welcomes foreign financial institutions like Citigroup and Carlyle to invest and start businesses here,” He Lifeng said. “We offer broad opportunities for multinational companies to participate in the growth of China’s capital market.”

John Dugan expressed Citigroup’s intention to deepen its presence in the Chinese market. “We are eager to enhance our investment cooperation with China and contribute to its economic development,” Dugan said.

Harvey Schwartz shared similar sentiments on behalf of the Carlyle Group. “We are optimistic about the prospects of China’s economic development,” Schwartz stated. “Carlyle is committed to long-term cooperation with China and aims to expand our investment footprint here.”

The meetings reflect China’s ongoing efforts to foster an open and cooperative international economic environment, providing new opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs worldwide.
