Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of promoting high-quality cultural and ethical development to reinforce the nation’s spirit and drive towards modernization and national rejuvenation.
In a recent instruction conveyed at a national conference honoring champions of cultural and ethical progress, Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted that coordinated material and cultural-ethical advancement is a hallmark of Chinese modernization.
Xi underscored the need to apply the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to enhance national cohesion, deepen convictions, and promote core socialist values. He called for continuous efforts to enrich people’s cultural lives, foster well-rounded personal development, and ensure balanced progress in cultural and ethical development across both urban and rural areas.
The president urged deeper reform and innovation, broader public participation, and the establishment of a long-term collaborative mechanism to advance cultural and ethical development.
At the event, Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, stressed the need to leverage high-quality cultural and ethical progress to gather strength for advancing Chinese modernization.
