Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced on Sunday that China is ready to join Indonesia in tackling global risks and challenges, while strengthening cooperation across five key areas: politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, maritime affairs, and security.
During his talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Premier Li emphasized the strong bond between the two nations. “China and Indonesia are good neighbors and good partners,” he said. “Over the past 75 years since establishing diplomatic relations, we’ve supported each other, and our traditional friendship has grown stronger over time.”
Premier Li highlighted China’s willingness to work with Indonesia to enhance mutual political trust and elevate strategic coordination to a higher level. He expressed China’s commitment to aligning development strategies and deepening high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
He urged for deeper collaboration in critical areas such as finance, new energy, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and maritime development. “In the face of growing global risks and challenges, solidarity and cooperation remain the most effective path forward,” Premier Li remarked.
He also stated that China is prepared to work with Indonesia and other developing countries to uphold multilateralism and free trade, promoting an equal and orderly multipolar world and an inclusive economic globalization.
President Prabowo expressed Indonesia’s commitment to advancing maritime joint development in line with existing agreements with China. He supported accelerating consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea to maintain regional peace and stability.
He also looked forward to strengthening coordination with China on multilateral platforms such as ASEAN and BRICS. President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for multilateralism, opposition to protectionism, and the desire to work jointly with China in safeguarding the common interests of developing nations and addressing global challenges.
Following their discussions, the two leaders witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation agreements covering economic development policy, industrial and supply chains, finance, and other sectors.
