South China Region Braces for Strongest Rainfall of 2025

Get your umbrellas ready! The south China region is gearing up for the most intense rainfall of the year. From May 27 to 29, heavy downpours and severe storms are set to hit provinces like Guizhou and areas south of the Yangtze River, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Since the start of May, southern China has been soaked by frequent heavy rains. Three major storm events have already drenched the region since May 13, and now more is on the way.

With the rain returning to places that have already been flooded, the risk of flash floods and landslides is higher than ever. On Sunday, authorities issued a blue alert for flash floods in western Yunnan, advising residents to stay safe from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday.

The warnings didn’t stop there. A yellow alert for potential geological disasters like landslides has been announced for central and western Yunnan. The message is clear: stay alert and be prepared.

As emergency teams stand by, communities across the south China region are bracing for what could be the year’s most challenging weather event. Stay tuned for updates and stay safe!
