China and Cambodia are taking their friendship to the next level! Chinese Premier Li Qiang recently met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to discuss boosting economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN-China-GCC Summit, where Premier Li emphasized China’s readiness to work with Cambodia to promote trade and investment. He highlighted the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Cambodia, during which both countries announced the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era.
Deepening Ties
Premier Li expressed China’s commitment to strengthening high-level exchanges and deepening political mutual trust with Cambodia. He called for making good use of the China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee to advance practical cooperation across various fields.
“We should respond to external uncertainties with the certainty of building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future,” Li said, emphasizing the need to jointly promote economic development and safeguard common interests.
Economic Cooperation
China is eager to align its high-quality Belt and Road Initiative with Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy. Premier Li mentioned accelerating the implementation of cooperation plans, such as the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor, to create new highlights of cooperation and foster new areas for growth.
Encouraging more Chinese enterprises to invest in Cambodia, China aims to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, digital economy, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy.
Shared Vision
Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his gratitude for President Xi’s recent visit, calling it a new milestone in the ironclad friendship between China and Cambodia. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for the one-China policy and China’s positions on issues concerning its core interests.
“Cambodia is willing to work with China to deliver on the outcomes of President Xi’s visit,” Hun Manet said. He looked forward to promoting practical cooperation, enhancing people-to-people ties, and jointly combating cross-border crime.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation amidst a turbulent international landscape. They agreed to uphold multilateralism, oppose protectionism, and promote shared global development.
